From Kingston to Queen Street

Hi, I'm Kate. I grew up in Kingston, Ontario, and moved to Toronto when I was 19 with one suitcase and a lot of big plans. Not long after, I started working at a department store at Queen and Yonge, and I ended up staying for 22 years. As a buyer, I spent my days touching fabrics, checking seams and asking one simple question: will a woman still love this in five years? I saw so many trends come and go. What stayed were the good pieces: a soft cashmere sweater, a trench that fits just right, jeans you never want to take off. Those are the clothes women kept coming back for, and honestly, so did I.


Why I started Kate on Queen

After all those years, I kept hearing the same thing from women my age. "I just want nice clothes that fit me and last." That stuck with me. So I decided to start my own little shop, online, where I could pick every piece myself, the way I always did as a buyer. Kate on Queen is named after the street that shaped me, with its mix of classic and a little bit unexpected. My style is simple: quality basics you can layer, wear all week and still feel good in. From a walk with my golden retriever Murphy to a weekend at the cottage in Sunnybrook Park, these are the pieces I reach for every single week. And because I know how annoying it is to wait and wonder, every order comes with free tracked shipping across Canada.
